Touching the Cosmos begins with a two-minute body scan meditation in darkness, preparing the body as an instrument of perception. A quotation from Liu Cixin's The Three-Body Problem, "Three days from now, between one and five in the morning, the entire universe will flicker for you," sets the journey in motion. Bookended by the artist’s construction of a NASA JOVE radio telescope in Twentynine Palms, California, the film unfolds through a series of embodied encounters with surreal and sublime landscapes. Touching the Cosmos imagines the body as a means of orienting ourselves toward the universe, where touch becomes both a mode of perception and a means of encountering nature that extends far beyond the Earth.
